Senior Cloud Engineer / Kanto Company
We usually respond within a week
Kanto Company - Same cloud stuff, better package 🌲
Are you tired of optimising cloud infrastructure just to make shareholders happy? Want to save both euros AND sea turtles while you're at it?
We're Kanto Company, and we're looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer who knows their way around the clouds (the digital kind, though we appreciate meteorology enthusiasts too).
Who we are
Kanto is a crew of 6 experienced cloud professionals who got together because they wanted to do more than just "cloud stuff." This team was tired of the usual grind, so they decided to start their own story: one where every project helps not only the client’s wallet but also the planet. Kanto doesn't just talk the talk; it backs up its mission by donating 10% of its profits to nature conservation.
Kanto specialises in something it calls Green Lean – a combination of FinOps, GreenOps, green code and performance engineering. It's about demystifying the cloud and bringing sustainability to the center of software development, because even though it's abstract, its footprint is real. Because Kanto is a small and growing team, your voice isn't just heard; it helps write the next chapter of the company's story.
Don't worry if these terms sound new; our blog has a post that explains them all.
What you'll actually be doing
As you may have guessed, this role is all about cloud infrastructure. You’ll be planning, building and optimising setups so they run smoothly, cost less and leave a smaller footprint. Some days it means designing a fresh new environment, other days it’s unravelling a cloud bill that looks more like a plot twist in a thriller than an invoice. Either way, you’ll be making life easier for clients and a bit lighter for the planet.
Instead of just “lifting and shifting” things to the cloud, you’ll:
Make cloud bills less scary (FinOps)
Fight climate change (and maybe make a few sea turtles smile) by cutting CO₂ emissions (GreenOps)
Architect and implement cloud solutions that don’t cost the earth
Work with well-known clients, including a major streaming service and some of Finland’s largest private employers
What we're looking for:
You don’t need to be a tree-hugging hippie (though we won’t hold it against you if you are). What matters most is curiosity, the will to learn and the desire to use your skills for something meaningful. You’ll do well here if you enjoy solving problems, finding smarter ways of working and aren’t afraid to take initiative.
We imagine you might have:
You have some hands-on experience with Azure (mainly) or AWS to feel comfortable in the cloud — maybe that’s 2–4 years, maybe more, the exact number isn’t the point
A working knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines
The ability to work independently, while knowing the team has your back when you need it
Good English skills (Finnish is a plus but not required)
An interest in why sustainability matters in tech, not just how the tech works
Why choose us?
At our core, we want to make software development more sustainable. That means helping companies stay competitive while keeping digital systems efficient and reducing their footprint. It also means building a community of people who want to use their skills for something that matters.
We like to keep things simple. Our philosophy is something new, something small, something good:
Something New: Learn FinOps and GreenOps (don’t worry if they’re new to you – they’re new to most people). Build your own expertise while working with modern tech.
Something Small: We’re tiny for now, which means your voice carries weight. No corporate layers, just a team building culture together – extra points if you enjoy bad jokes.
Something Good: We donate 10% of our profits to nature conservation, for example through the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation that protects ancient forests.
Same cloud work, but with a better feeling in your gut.
What we offer:
We want you to enjoy the work as much as the impact it creates. That means a fair salary, solid benefits and the freedom to choose the tools you like, plus a few extras that make life easier and a bit more fun.
Salary: 5000-6000€/month
Benefits: Lunch and commuter benefits, extensive healthcare, and the usual IT perks (pick your own laptop, phone, etc.).
Locations: Helsinki or Tampere (remote is an option, but we'd love to see your face in the wild every now and then!)
Part of the Kluuvi Group companies (represented by Evalkia, bigger network, shared offices and parties – more the merrier, yay!)
Interview process (we keep it simple):
1. A quick chat with our recruiter. Your first meeting will be with our friends at Ilmiö. They're helping us with the process, and this is a relaxed chance to talk about your background and what you're interested in.
2. Lunch with the Kanto’s team. We love our Friday lunches!
3. A technical deep dive. We'll talk about your technical skills.
4. An optional third chat with Kanto (if we need it)
Think you can handle this mix of serious tech and not-so-serious people? Hit us up by 30.9. We're moving fast on applications. We’d love to hear from you, even if you’re not currently looking to make a change, but see Kanto Company as an interesting option for the future.
